What are assemblies?

The way to participate on Coopmmunity is through what we call ‘Assemblies’, which are participatory spaces where a group or organisation meets periodically to make decisions about a specific area of their activity.

Assemblies can be private or open meetings. If they are open, anyone can participate (e.g. by attending if space allows, adding items to the agenda, or commenting on the proposals and decisions made by the group). Private assemblies, on the other hand, are not open to the public, but they can be made accessible to a select group of participants, for the sake of transparency.

Some examples of assemblies:

  • Cooperative coordination spaces. Coordination groups.

  • Cooperative housing professional networks.

  • Cooperative Housing Federations.

  • Cooperative housing project development group.

  • Internal working group of a Housing Cooperative.
